When a person leaves the beach after a sunny day of relaxation and tanning he/she feels a sense of mental renewal and physical revitalization. Planet Beach was founded in 1996 with the idea that a tanning salon should provide an experience that is similar to that of a beach vacation, yet alternative and stimulating at the same time. Thus, to capture the essence of this feeling, the words "Planet" and "Beach" were combined to form a name representative of such a tanning salon environment.
